Well, perhaps it does not make perfect French fries. But I was delighted to see this K-Tel Knitter on eBay, and I quickly put in my max bid of $0.99 US for it. No one else seemed to be as delighted as I was, so I won it! Back in my early teens (or maybe even a little earlier than that) I had a set of two K-Tel Knitters (but with red rings rather than dark blue) that held me enthralled with possibilities for a couple of years, before I figured out that I preferred real knitting (this actually is more like a K-Tel Crocheter, in spite of the name). I did actually use them to make a couple of things, including a purse and a poncho or two.
Now I have a mad hankering for harvest gold, olive-green and burnt orange Phentex yarn….

Can you bring this ‘thing’ on Tuesday for a ‘show and tell’?
When I come for a two-day vacation at my very favourite B&B? I’ll try to remember to bring it! We can play around with it while we’re waiting for paint to dry on the ceiling and walls….
I will have the masking tape ready!
I think I vaguely remember your old ones.
I’ve never seen this thing-y before, altho I’ve been knitting for over forty yrs. I remember K-Tel very well!! Did it come w/instructions? I’m going to E-Bay right now…Am a nut for knitting gadgets, like darning eggs, nostepinnes, etc.
Julie, this one didn’t come with instructions (although some do). You can Google around a bit and find some posted on the web. The original set came with a pattern booklet/instructions — it would be amusing to see *that* again! Nothing makes you humble like realizing that at one time you thought elephant pants and flipped bangs were the height of fashion….
